February is National Pet Dental Health Month!

Did you ever wonder why your pet's breath seems so bad?  Well, when was the last time you brushed your cat or dogs teeth?  Just like people, dogs and cats teeth need care in order to keep them in their best shape.  According to a board certified veterinary dental specialist, "it's estimated that by the age of two, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats have some form of periodontal disease.  Periodontal infections have been linked to diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease and other life threatening disorders.  The best way to prevent periodontal disease is by regularly brushing your pet's teeth and by regularly visiting your veterinarian."

At Flemington Veterinary Hospital we carry a full line of toothbrushes and toothpastes to care for your pet's teeth daily at home.  We also offer dental cleaning services, as well as more involved dental work if needed.

Please take a moment to watch this video from the AVMA on how to care for your pet's teeth and then give us a call - we'd be happy to see to your pets dental care!
